"We are extremely excited to hear about funding ($600) for the sewing machines. This is a great achievement towards success of this project. We broke the news to the women, you can't imagine excitement!!!!! Many women want to join the project but at this initial stage, we are limiting numbers until we obtain the office and start full production of sanitary pads. The women are extremely happy for the project, to embrace the sanitation of the girl child especially those ones in schools who cannot afford the purchase the sanitary towels. Currently we have 10 girls and 15 dedicated women involved in the designing and making the sanitary pads. Through the guidance of our church pastors and the ministry's women leader, the women convene at least three times a week at the church to design and make the pads using the hand sewing needles. The pastors have always been instrumental especially in guiding and bringing the women together to help the sanitation of their children in school. The project has already produced good samples of the sanitary pads and available in documentation. We hope that if we constantly engage and have the materials to produce more, we will do so to make sure our children go to school and compete favorably with the boys who are always not disrupted by any hygiene related problems. The church pastors are always together with the women each and every time they meet and the ministry is working tirelessly to see that the project expands to serve many more communities. As the project grows further, we will start making clothes for the people in town. This will be done especially to raise some funds and grow this project and also replicate it in other areas of our work. It our duty to see that this project is sustained for the benefit of the girl child in school and the community at large. With the few challenges at hand currently solved or reduced, we will be able to see this project produce to the expectation of the communities where we work. God bless you all.” Charles Ebunyu Project Administrator Liregu Christian Grace Ministries P.O. Box 422, Lira - Uganda East Africa Mobile: +256 752 275 20 Website:
